During the current lockdown, the church is once more closed to public worship. However, we are allowed to remain open for private prayers as long as we maintain social distancing and record our visits as we have been doing.
Rev'd Jim will be attending to office business within the main body of the church as much as he is able, so if you see the South Door open (the one facing the street) do feel free to pop in to say a prayer, light a candle or just sit quietly for a while.
In the meantime, below is a letter from Rev'd Jim. See links to the right for help with worship during Epiphany.
We have introduced a new - and temporary - section of the website called
to try and help us through this difficult time.
Here are prayer booklets, videos, updates and ways to pass the time. See the links on the right and please let us have your suggestions for what to include. This should be your space too. We continue to produce our parish Magazine, Sydenham Life, as an online publication. See right also.
We pray that you stay safe and healthy until this crisis is over.

St. Bartholomew's is a Grade 2* listed parish church in the Church of England, based in Sydenham, London. There are about 200 people in the congregation, from diverse backgrounds, and our worship combines all the main traditions of the Anglican Church.
We welcome all Christians and those enquiring into Christianity, and communicant members of other churches are invited to take Communion with us.
We usually have services every day (except Mondays) and two Eucharists on Sunday at 8am and 10am.
We seek to:

St. Bartholomew's has also established itself over the years as a formidable music venue and this is something we wish to expand upon in the future and as part of our major restoration plans.

Quite apart from during periods of restoration, it takes a lot of money to keep this beautiful building open so we always welcome donations.
